Mangaluru: MLA Dr Bharath Shetty announces Rs 17 lac prize for greenery

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Aug 2: MLA of Mangaluru north legislative constituency, Dr Bharath Shetty has announced prizes of Rs 10 lac, Rs 5 lac and Rs 2 lac for planting and rearing up at least five plants at every booth in his constituency.

This is done by the MLA to send out a strong message to society, instead of just celebrating World Environment Day.

Dr Bharath Shetty said, "Saplings that are planted in every booth are inspected every year. The booth which has nurtured the plants in a very good manner will get Rs 10 lac, second and third prizes will be Rs 5 lac and Rs 2 lac respectively. I have decided to give this amount from the MLA funds. This amount will be utilized for the development of that respective booth. By this, the green project will be effectively implemented."

"We celebrate Vanamahotsava and World Environment Day every year. But the real result is not seen. That is why this year I have come up with a certain goal to be achieved by the booth level workers in my constituency. There is no maximum limit for the number of saplings that can be planted. But a minimum of five saplings should be planted and nurtured. I will personally inspect and judge the growth of plants and give the prize to the eligible ones from the MLA fund. This will install a competitive nature among the booth workers," he said.

Can we say that concerned department is planting the saplings underneath electrical lines, on top of large size water lines and where individual water supply crossing area, home electrical cable conneting from meter board to electric pole is a good planning or good achievement.

Ultimately, these plants are cut by electrical department then what is progress.

Before planting one should have little common sense.

Government is spending for raising and development of plants
So wasting of government fund is not required.instead MLA can ask where these plants planted specie and total number of plants planted and at the year end inspect success of plants ie commencing before next year rain.its the number of success and existence of plants more important than showing number of plants planted. The plants planted counted the land of country may not be sufficient for plants.
