Udupi: DCIB Police Unravel Sensational Murder Case of Bhagirathi

Udupi, Mar 12: Police of the District Crime Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) on Friday March 12, in a major breakthrough exposed the conspiracy of Dr Suresh Prabhu, a native of Hebri and serving as an associate Professor at Hassan Medical College, into murdering his wife Bhagirathi during January this year.
Dr Suresh had lodged a complaint with the DCIB that his wife Bhagirathi had died due to a snake bite at Hebri. She was taken to a private nursing home at Hebri in an unconscious state and was later shifted to the District Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, the brother of Bhagirathi suspected foul play into the death, which led the police to pursue the case further. The police in a major breakthrough nabbed five persons involved in the conspiracy of murdering Bhagirathi whose death was believed to be due to a snake bite.
The arrested have been identified as Harish, Hassan Medical College driver, Niranjanraj Urs, Paramesh, final LLB student, Basavaraj, truck driver, and Manjunath, Hassan Medical College forensic medicine laboratory clerk.
On further interrogation by the police, Dr Suresh Prabhu revealed that he had forcibly injected his wife Bhagirathi with cobra venom which he has acquired from a local charmer, when they were travelling in a car to Hebri. He also admitted to misleading the police in his complaint and also the medics at the private clinic in Hebri and later at the district hospital.
DCIB sub inspector Ganesh Hegde, assistant sub inspector Thimappa Gowda, police personnel Ratnakar, Narayan, Uday Kunder, Dinesh Shetty, Nagaraj, Manohar Udyavar, Mahabala Shetty, Damodar, Vaman, Satish Ballal, Ranjan and Abdul Khader, were engaged in the investigations which was directed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Pravin Madhukar Pawar.
SP Pravin Madhukar Pawar announced a cash reward of Rs 30,000 to the DCIB police team for the major breakthrough in record time.
