Conte 'categorically denies' speaking to Juventus about Sarri's future

Milan, Aug 4 (IANS): Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte has denied reports that he spoke to Juventus hierarchy regarding their manager Maurizio Sarri's future at the club.

Conte's immediate future with Inter remain uncertain as he recently publically criticised top bosses after the team missed out on Serie A title by just one point to Juventus.

It was claimed that the former Chelsea manager is trying to engineer a move to Juve -- whom he managed from 2011-14 and led them to three league titles -- at the expense of Sarri.

"Regarding the article published today on Repubblica, I categorically deny the fact that I spoke with Juventus directors and players asking: 'Are you going to sack Sarri?'" Conte was quoted as saying by Italian outlet ANSA as per Daily Mail.

"I will sue those who wrote this article and the editor in charge of the magazine.'

"I took on a three-year project with Inter and as I have always done in my life I will work hard and will fight with all my strength and with all that is in my possibilities to make it a winning project," he added.

Following Inter's last home game against Atalanta, Conte had stated his work wasn't recognised by the club and they also failed to protect the players during the course of the entire campaign.

"It has been a tough year on a personal level, very tough," Conte told reporters after win over Atalanta.

"I don't think the players saw their work recognised, I don't think I saw my work recognised and we all received very little protection from the club.

"We have to grow and improve in all areas, including off the field, and a big club should protect its players more.

"We'll discuss it all at the end of the season, I have to meet the president (Steven Zhang) and he's in China right now," he added.
