Chikmagalur: International Women’s Day Celebrated at Belur

Chikmagalur, Mar 14: Chikmagalur Multipurpose Social Service Society (CMSSS), and Federation of Karanataka Christian Association, Belur jointly organized a programme to celebrate international Women’s day at Veer Shiva Kalyan Mantap, Belur here on Saturday March 13.

Belur MLA, V N Rudresh Gowda inaugurated the programme. He spoke on the various roles played by women in the modern world and added that due to women’s reservation quota they can make tremendous progress in the political field as well. He lauded the contribution of CMSSS towards the welfare of society.

Federation of Karnataka Christian Associations state convenor, Denis D’Silva, Belur block Congress president, P Saldanha, Belur municipal president Shanthakumar, taluk women’s federation president, Shanthamma, Bishop Fr Vijay Kumar, Arehalli and  Jaya Karnataka taluk president Sudarshan among others were the chief guests.

As many as 2,000 ladies from taluk participated in the programme. Cultural programme by women was also held on the occasion.
