Abducted soldier's clothes found in Kashmir orchard


Srinagar, Aug 7 (IANS): Four days after an Indian Army soldier was abducted his clothes were found in an apple orchard, leading the security forces on Friday to intesify their search operation.

Rifleman Shakir Manzoor went missing on Monday. He was reportedly abducted by terrorists as he was on his way to join back duty after spending the Eid festival with his family. He is a soldier working with the 162 battalion of territory army in south Kashmir.

Sources said the clothes of the abducted soldier were found in an orchard in Landoora village of Shopian on Friday after which a massive search operation was launched in the area to trace the missing soldier.

So far, no militant group has owned responsibility for the abduction.

The abductors had also torched the soldier's private vehicle as they took him away.
