Mumbai, Aug 8: As online classes have become the current norm due to the ongoing pandemic, remote parts of the state are finding it out of reach due to various factors. The education department, in this regard, has been receiving requests from schools to hold physical classes. As per the guidelines of the central government in terms of unlocking has stated that educational institutions must remain closed until August 31.
A senior education department official said that the department has been receiving requests from various rural parts of the state as they have no choice left to conduct classes and fear that students might drop out of education if classes are discontinued for long.
"We are receiving requests from rural parts, including Nandurbar, Gadchiroli etc to start classes since physical learning is the only choice for many students. Teachers fear students will drop out of school if their education doesn't continue. But due to restrictions in the central government's guidelines, we aren't able to give them permission," the official stated.
