Mangalore: Public Tribute to Konkani Legend Wilfy Rebimbus on Mar 22

Mangalore, Mar 17: A public condolence meeting to pay tribute to the late legendary singer Konkan Kogul Wilfy Rebimbus, who passed away on March 9 will be held at Milagres Hall on Monday March 22 at 4.00 pm.
Speaking at a press meet on Wednesday March 17, Convenor of the organizing committee, Ivan D'Souza said that Wilfy Rebimbus' contribution to the Konkani music field has been immense. He entertained the music lovers through his meanigful lyrics as well as variation in singing. Thus it is befitting that the legendary soul is given the due respect he deserves for the great musician and humble person he was, he added.
Wilfy Rebimbus has sung more than 2,800 songs, both in Konkani and Tulu. He has a total of 48 cassettes and CDs realease with 248 Wilfy Nites to his credit. We demand the state government as well as Mangalore City Corporation to name the road from Valencia circle to Koti-chennaya Circle as Wilfy Rebimbus road.
Union law minister M Veerappa Moily, District in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar, Mayor Rajani Dugganna, Fr Dennis Moras Prabhu, vicar general of Mangalore diocesan, MLA Abhayachandra Jain, inspector general of police Gopal Hosur, former minister Amaranath Shetty, non-resident Indian entrepreneur Leo Rodrigues from Abu Dhabi, former MLC K S M Masood and Konkani Doyen Basti Vaman Shenoy among others will participate at the meeting, he said.
Members of the condolence meeting committee, former mayor K Ashraf, Leslie Rago, Fr Anil D'Souza and Praveen Alva among others were present.
