Bangalore : Catholic Press Association Upset with Congress

by Fr. Adolf Washington

Bangalore, Mar 18: The Christian community from various quarters in Karnataka has expressed deep disappointment and unhappiness with the Congress for not giving party tickets to Christians in the BBMP elections in Bangalore, especially those who have served the party for several years.

Members of the Indian Catholic Press Association all across the country have expressed regret over the attitude of the Congress.
The Christian community through her institutions and works of Charity has an immense potential to influence people of other religious groups during election time.  If the Congress shows such a step-motherly attitude towards the Christian Community, the Congress party may have to re-think its association with the Christian community.

The Christian community, without prejudice, has contributed to nation-building over the years.  Denying Christian candidates a ticket is tantamount to ignoring the contribution of the Christian community to society.
