Kasargod, Aug 11: A scooter rider lost his life after a speeding car hit his vehicle at Bekoor, near Uppala on Tuesday, August 11.
The deceased has been identified as K Rama Bhat (62), a resident of Bekoor. Eyewitnesses said that the car driver had consumed ganja. As he saw a police jeep approaching after the accident, he left the car there and fled the spot.
Sources said that the car driver is an accused in more than seven criminal cases. He was driving in a wayward manner before the mishap took place. Locals tried to catch him, but he succeeded in escaping after the accident.
Manjeshwar station police personnel arrived at the spot and conducted the investigation.
