New Delhi, Aug 14: An option has been made available to Aadhaar users guaranteeing easy accessibility. One of the most important documents for identification in India, Aadhaar card finds its application in opening a bank account and in the filing of income tax returns. However, it may not always be easy to carry the hard copy and therefore an individual can download an e-Aadhaar card on their smartphone.

To avail an e-Aadhaar card, one needs an Aadhaar number and registered mobile number. They will be then required to visit the UIDAI website uidai.gov.in.

Once on the website, people can follow these following steps:

- Go to official website https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in

- Enter your Aadhaar card number and key in the captcha

- An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number

- Click on verify after answering certain questions

- Your e-Aadhaar card will be downloaded in PDF format

Next, to open the PDF, an individual will require a password. The password will be the first four letters of a person's name in capital letters and the year of birth. For eg: If your name is Rahul Arora and your birth year is 1985, then the password will be RAHU1985.

Earlier, an applicant needed to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra, fill a form and submit photocopies of essential ID and address proof documents.
