TN simplifies e-pass procedure

Chennai, Aug 14 (IANS): Facing criticism for continuing with the e-pass system for inter-district travel, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami on Friday simplified the procedure for getting the pass.

In a statement issued here, Palaniswami said from August 17 onwards, e-passes will be issued immediately if people wanting to travel to other districts apply specifying their Aadhaar or ration card details and phone numbers.

He requested people to apply for e-pass only in case of unavoidable reasons and extend their cooperation to the government's efforts in containing the Covid-19 pandemic.
