36 Wild Animals Killed in Chhattisgarh


Raipur, Mar 19 (IANS): Poachers killed 36 wild animals in Chhattisgarh in the past 24 months, a forest official said Friday.

Eleven wild animals were killed in 2008-09 and 25 till February this year, the official told IANS.

He said poachers had largely targeted leopards in Kanker and Dhamtari districts.

Meanwhile, police arrested two youths Friday morning from Kanker with leopard skin worth Rs.150,000. The two were identified as Piluram Kaushik and Tikamchand Yadav.
