Madikeri, Aug 16: Mortal remains of assistant priest of Talakaveri temple Ravikiran (24), a native of Kallige in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district was found on Saturday August 15, at a distance of two km from the spot of landslide.

Sources have informed that the family members of Ravikiran had gone to Tala Kaveri on Saturday and his final rites were held there itself.

Five people, including the chief temple priest Narayana Achar perished in the tragedy. Mortal remains of Narayana Achar and his brother Anandatheertha are already recovered.

District natural disaster response team, NDRF, SDRF, forest, fire service and police personnel were involved in the operation. The search is continuing to trace the mortal remains of Shantha Achar, wife of Narayana Achar and one more assistant priest Srinivasa Paddillaya, a resident of Kayarthimoole, Adoor in the district of Kasargod of Kerala state.

Minister V Somanna distributed cheques of Rs 2.5 lac each to Sharada and Namitha, daughters of deceased Narayana Achar. The minister also handed over a cheque of Rs five lac to Susheela, sister of Anandatheertha, brother of chief priest Narayana Achar as he was a bachelor.
