Udupi: Pejawar Swamiji urges union FM to release Rs 200 crore package for goshalas

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS/HB)

Udupi, Aug 16: President of Govardhana Giri Trust (R) and senior seer of Pejawar Math Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Sripada has written a letter to union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman urging her to release a maintenance package of Rs 200 crore for maintaining the goshalas throughout the country, which are facing hardship because of coronavirus pandemic.

In the letter, Pejawar Swamiji says, "Like other sectors of the country, which are facing a severe financial crisis, goshalas are also facing difficulty due to coronavirus. The maintenance of goshalas is highly expensive. In Udupi, the monthly maintenance cost of goshalas which we are running at Neelavara, Kodavoor and Hebri is around Rs 35 lac. In addition, many philanthropists are donating money to manage goshalas on a smaller scale across various temples and maths. This was possible due to the contribution of the devotees. But now even devotees cannot donate as they are short of funds. In addition, the rains that are lashing for the past two months have made our work of collecting hay for the cows more difficult."

Pejawar Swamiji (left) and Nirmala Sitharaman

"Hence, as the union government has declared special packages for various sectors in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, at least Rs 200 crore should be released for the management of goshalas. Not only with respect to religion but the protection of cows should be seen from the point of view of financial wellbeing also," he said.

Within a week, two under age girls in UP. One raped, tortured, tongue cut and eyes gouged out.
Second one , raped , tortured with cigarette fire, and left to die. Forget about cows, don't we worship also the real mother ? Then where are our values gone ? Why all these efforts about cows and cow dung be channelized to protect out little girls ? Think, some day it could be your own girl child being tortured and raped by some people of your own religion. These beasts who rape are are never familiar to what that religion and values stand for , because the people who are supposed to teach and preach have gone politically correct and have started concentrating on more profitable issues? I have nothing against protecting animals and cows, but question is what are our priorities as the keepers of values.

human form of life is the highest form of life on earth... after being born as animals in many past lives, life evolves and takes human form in rebirth... in case one does bad in human form, in next life he/she is reverted as animal... it is obvious where the priorities should be...

Goats/sheep, pork and cattle are main slaughter animals... Vast majority of citizens of G7 countries, UN permanent council member countries, first world countries consume meat from these animals... as Vishwa Guru nation, this fact has to be taken into consideration and food habits has to be in line with the majority of civilized / advanced countries... within this boundary, food habit should be left to choice of people...

According to experts, if slaughter animals are not consumed as meat,

    1. these animals will turn into wild animals in due course...
    2. all grass including crops will be going for the consumption of these animals...

The government should put a control on breeding cows/buffaloes. Because, a person selling milk is buying a breed that gives maximum milk. He feeds artificial feeds and less green. He injects hormones for more and more yield. Put a stop to this, all manipulation will stop.

Why don't the dairies stop at milk ? No, they make curd out of the remaining milk, extract ghee out of it and Paneer. Nothis is happening out of love, but for more and more profit. Neither Goshalas are happening for no gain. There too milk related products and dung/urine related products are sold.

Selfish people and their fake love for cow.

Can see so many comments saying humans humans humans. While I understand that yes humans are suffering but along all the other living beings. Now this COVID is due to man made karma. What have cows or dogs done here. They are suffering coz of us. Live and let live. There should always be ecological balance. One cannot say let them die and let us focus only on humans. This is inhumane!

Can any one tell enlighten me how the cows, bulls, bufellows were taken care 30-40 years ago. There were no issues of third party taking care of them. When domestic animals not return home after grazing people's used run n search them till they fiound. No cows were on road no theft everything was moving smoothly. Now we need a shelter home for cows.the need is go bak to origins to our traditions.for time being take care of humans who can't afford medical facilities, hove no roof over their head. By the way goshalas are a political agenda n not love for the cow

As the days passed, the things gone in south direction. Our cows used to return home comfortably. Even if they don't return, we used to find them within 2 km range. But now the matter is changed
    1. People stopped growing cows (supply of milk and beef reduced)
    2. Population increased (demand for milk and beef increased)
So, obviously thefts of cows for beef and adulteration of milk has increased.

The solution now is to either increase the supply by growing more cows (Swamiji efforts indirectly helps this) or reduce the consumption (as population has already increased, reducing the consumption is an impossible task). So, only way left is support Swamiji in growing cows....

Why one should orphan a cow ? Why don't you guys find the owner of the cow when she was young and claim the charges (of the cow now old), to run till she dies ? He must have made sufficient income to last his lifetime ??

Please specify that Goshalas are only for orphaned cows. There is no milk giving cows in Goshalas ? There is no dung related products sold ? No panchagavya, gaumutra based products for sale ? Who is gulping this income ? Isn't it supposed to be used for feeding the cows ?

We are a nation, while we pray to Goddesses, we do not give due respect to women. We are such a nation, that we are eating least meat in the wold, but by killing and exporting meat, reached number one meat exporter. Govt says on paper, cow meat is not exported, but by bribing the officials, dear Indians, cow meat is really exported. We do no allow cow meat in many states, but, in Kerala, West Bengal, Goa, Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Megalaya, Manipur, Shillong, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Kashmir, we allow freely to kill and eat cows. Why our Swamis, politicians and cow lovers do not try to stop this double standard. I respect the sentiment of people on cows, but, is it the way showing the sentiment in double standard ?

For sure cows need a shelter which gives a great benefit to humans but this time more focus is required on getting ready for vaccines and PPE and testing and controlling the virus and sending people to back to work soon so that people have money to.live.a. normal.life again. In one of the orphanages in Mangalore that I know there are more than 200 orphans. There is no food available now.The people who is to donate to the orphanages stop giving ,since there is no income.Government should immediately intervene and release some funds.

There was a system running to do away with the older cattle but now Goshalas are put up to care for them. Let those who have put up the Goshalas take care of the business like any other person is taking care of his own business. During Covid-19 or before and after.
