M’lore: Loan Deal Goes Awry - Six Arrested for Kidnap, Posing Threat to Life

Mangalore, Mar 20: Mangalore south (Pandeshwar) police arrested six persons for kidnapping a person and posing threat to life in connection with a loan deal on Saturday March 20.
The arrested have been identified as Niyaz, resident of Talapady, Rahamatulla, resident of Mudipu, Siddique, resident of Madoor, Rafeeq resident of Ullal, Mohammad Ashraf and K H Ismail, residents of Kinya. The accused had kidnapped Abdul Khader, a resident of Majalthota near Kuttar and placed a demand to return the amount of Rs 2.5 lac loaned to the father of kidnapped, Ahmed Bava.
The loan was borrowed from K C Mohammad resident of Talapady, about a year ago. Niyaz, the son of K C Mohammad plotted a plan to kidnap Khader to threaten him for the return of loan amount after Bava was not to be found anywhere. The accused led by Niyaz executed their plan on Friday March 19.
The team of six waylaid the car Khader was traveling and dragged him to the Omni vehicle driving it towards Someshwar near Ullal here. The accused then harassed him physically as well as mentally hurling abusive words. Further, they also threatened to kill him within a month, if he failed to return the money. Later, Khader was abandoned near Mahakali Padpu under Pandeshwar police station limits.
Police registered a case in this regard and arrested the above accused. Later, the accused were produced before the court in the city.
