161 corona patients discharged from ITBP-run centre


New Delhi, Aug 17 (IANS): The ITBP-run Sardar Patel Covid Care Centre and Hospital on the Radha Soami Satsang Beas campus in Chhatarpur here discharged a record 161 recovered coronavirus patients on Monday.

Of the 161 recovered patients, 39 are women. They were given a rose and a health certificate each by Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) officials before their discharge.

The centre was made functional under the overall management of the ITBP on July 5 when corona cases in Delhi were expected to increase.

Envisaged as the world's largest Covid care centre that can accommodate more than 10,000 patients in one go, it has admitted 1,515 corona patients till date.

As many as 1,127 of the patients, including Monday's discharged ones, have been treated and cured at the centre by an ITBP team of doctors and paramedical staff.

The coronavirus situation in Delhi has improved significantly, with only 652 new cases added to the tally on Sunday.
