Manduadih renamed as Banaras railway station


Lucknow, Aug 18 (IANS): The Manduadih railway station in Varanasi will now be known as the Banaras railway station.

The Uttar Pradesh government had sent a request for renaming the railway station in the Varanasi district. The state government spokesman said that the Union Home Ministry had approved the renaming of the railway station.

The Home Ministry considers proposals for name change according to the existing guidelines in consultations with agencies concerned.

It gives its approval to any proposal for change of name of any place after taking no-objections from the Ministry of Railways, Department of Posts and Survey of India, an official said.

The Manduadih railway station in Varanasi was revamped last year into a world-class station.

Equipped with the latest amenities, the Manduadih railway station is nothing short of an airport. Its stunning station building along with the new passenger-friendly amenities have made this station a class apart.

The railway station is equipped with facilities like air-conditioned waiting lounge, stainless steel lounges and LED lights.

The Indian Railways have added fountains to beautify the premises.

The station also has a cafeteria, food court, booking and reservation office, waiting rooms and more.
