Bengaluru, Aug 18: The state government has revised regulations for the celebration of Ganesh festival following objections from some quarters.
Chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa said that public installation of Ganesh idol and poojas will be allowed.
Sharing the details in twitter he said that prevention of the spread of coronavirus is the responsibility of all and has also requested humbly to celebrate an environment-friendly Ganesh festival.

The revised guidelines are as follows:
1. The festival can be celebrated with devotion in a simple manner at residences, government, private or public places in the open with a minimum number of people.
2. The idol should not exceed a height of four feet in public places and two feet in houses.
3. Traditional Ganeshotsava committees or local bodies should obtain prior permission from corporations/municipalities.
4. An idol each can be installed in the ward and village and celebrated.
5. Entertainment, cultural programmes, music or dances are banned at the venue of the celebrations.
6. The premises should be arranged so as to accommodate a maximum of 20 people. Devotees or people above 20 in number are not permitted.
7. Processions, DJ or celebrations are banned when the idol is brought or immersed.
“Those who conduct rituals at home can immerse the idol in nearby mobile tankers, artificial tankers meant for immersion or the pits prepared by local bodies,” stated the chief minister in the press release.
