SC orders CBI probe into Sushant Singh Rajput death case

New Delhi, Aug 19 (IANS): The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered a CBI probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and asked Mumbai Police to hand over all evidence collected so far in the case to CBI.

Justice Hrishikesh Roy said the CBI will be competent to probe not only Patna FIR but any other FIR in connection with the case.

The top court noted that the Mumbai Police has registered only an accidental death report in connection with Rajput's death, therefore it has limited investigation powers, whereas the case registered by Bihar Police is a full-fledged FIR which has been already referred to CBI.

The top ensured that there was no confusion about CBI being a sole authority to investigate the mystery behind Rajput's death and no other state police could interfere with it. The apex court order came on a plea by Rhea Chakraborty seeking transfer of FIR registered in Patna to Mumbai.

The apex court emphasized that the probe into the case has been ordered by the court and Maharashtra government must comply and assist.

The CBI is also free to register a fresh case, if required, added the top court.

I wonder who Maha Govt was protecting? The clumsiness of the Mumbai police was very obvious. Right from the word go , it was termed as suicide without any investigation. Moreover, the way the Maha state leaders and police protested against Bihar and CBI is really casting doubts. It also gave good reason for BJP and Republic TV to blow this issue. If its a 'murder' , then heads in Maha may roll. Bad news for Congress and Pappu. Like someone mentioned here Congress should have beaten BJP to work on this case.

Yes we need to welcome this decision.... But.... this is one more such Politically staged drama then.... I believe Justice will not be served for sure
Because what we hear from other sources that..... Udhav Thackery's Son is involved in one such case of late Ms Salian's suicidal and Aghadi Govt will collapse in 6 months because Shiv Sena agreed to form BJP Govt in Maharashtra so that Central will not make much problem for Udhav's Son
If this is case....then forget it!!!

Good for SSR , his family and fans. Hope truth prevails. The sad thing is , its a set back for Maharashtra. Ideally RaGa should have initiated this campaign and ensured SSR mystery death gets CBI probe. It would have been a big boost for him and Congress. Instead of dabbling with some non issues like 'RSS -facebook' that ended in humiliation, the SSR campaign would have made RaGa the real 'hero of India' and would have won him accolades even from foreign shores. But alas, bashing and lashing is the only forte of the Grand Old party now. The irony is that, If CBI cracks this case, Arnab and BJP will get the biggest credit for exposing the truth.

Agree to what you stated. Rahul would have become a real Hero fighting for justice despite his Govt ruling. His vote bank would have inflated. But you get in terms with reality bro! Will RaGa and Congress lean towards and fight for someone like '''Rajput''.?
