Bengaluru, Aug 19: Before moving a petition before the high court bench headed by the Chief Justice seeking appointment of claim commissioner, the state government has issued an official order appointing an officer of the additional director general of police level to estimate losses on the basis of first information reports (FIR). The post of litigation conducting officer of ADGP rank will prepare documents and to estimate preliminary information on the same. This officer will work to file applications on the basis of FIRs filed and to supply the same to the government advocates and to file affidavits on behalf of the state government in the high court. This procedure is followed as per the directions issued by the Supreme Court to recover damages from the guilty.

In the meanwhile, former chief minister Siddaramaiah said that the disturbances are being used as a tool to remove B S Yediyurappa from the post of the CM. In a tweet, he remarked that the state BJP has split into two and a group led by leaders close to RSS is trying to unseat the CM. He stated that state BJP leaders want to blame Congress for the disturbances and get political benefit by terming it as communal clash, rather than finding out real culprits behind the riots.
Minister C T Ravi, speaking at Delhi, lashed out at MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan, who said that those who participated in the disturbances were innocent people. He said that Naveen had reacted to a post about Lord Ram on the basis of which the trouble started. He said that those who took part in the disturbances are getting benefits illegally and conducting businesses without licences. Noting that Zameer Ahmed has been distributing compensation to the riots-accused, he predicted that he might also finance the Kashmiri terrorists in future.
State Congress president D K Shivakumar stated that Naveen is a BJP supporter and that no Congress leaders were involved with the disturbances. He accused the government of harassing Congressmen to cover up its own mistakes.
