Mangaluru: Father Mullers Medical College bids farewell to Dr K Sundara Bhat, Dr Narasimha Hegde

Mangaluru, Aug 19: The department of general medicine, Father Muller Medical College organized a farewell function to bid adieu to the two senior professors who retired from active service Dr K Sundara Bhat and Dr Narasimha Hegde on Tuesday, August 18.

Dr Roshan M professor, department of medicine welcomed the gathering and gave an introductory note on the 33 years of service rendered by both of the professors and described them to be frontline pillars and stalwarts of medicine department.

Dr R Arunachalam professor and head, department of medicine escorted the guests to the dais. Fr Richard A Coelho, director, FMCI , Fr Rudolph Ravi D'Sa, administrator FMMCH, Fr Ajith B Menezes administrator FMMC, Dr Jayaprakash Alva, dean, FMMC, Dr Antony Sylvan D'Souza, dean, Father Muller Allied Health Sciences, Dr Uday Kumar, medical superintendent, Dr Padmaja Udaykumar vice dean, Sr Janet, chief nursing officer, Dr Smitha Bhat professor, Medicine were the dignitaries who felicitated Dr K Sundara Bhat and Dr Narasimha Hegde.

Dr K Sundara Bhat joined the programme through Google Meet and conveyed his message. He spoke about pursuing hobbies to spend his retired life. Dr Narasimha Hegde spoke about his entire tenure and his passion for teaching which made him continue his work in this institution.

Fr Richard Coelho praised and appreciated the dedication and selfless service and patient care rendered by the professors during their tenure in the institution. Dr Narasimha Hegde’s mother and other family members attended the function.

All departmental faculty, super specialists, staff and postgraduates attended the function. Dr Venkatesha BM, professor, department of Medicine proposed the vote of thanks.

Dr K Sundara Bhat was felicitated at his residence. Dr Archana Bhat compered the event.

    Senior doctors should be given an emeritus post in the hospitals where they have served for many years . Their clinical experience and wisdom will definitely benefit the junior faculty and students not to forget the many patients they have been treating for a number of years . Generation s of families have been treated by these senior doctors and it is sad to see them go .
