District TB officer among 26 new Covid cases in Agra


Agra, Aug 21 (IANS): Among the 26 new Covid-19 cases in Agra reported in the last 24 hours, the District TB Officer has also been found positive.

Since he had been attending official meetings regularly, a whole lot of people have been asked to undergo testing. The office has been sealed for the sanitisation work.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Agra has reached 2,421 out of which the active cases are 282.

The number of recovered patients is 2,035, while the death toll so far is 104.

District Magistrate P.N. Singh said 88,939 samples had been collected so far.

The principal of the S. N. Medical College Sanjay Kala informed that a new facility was being created for advanced Covid-19 related testing to save time and provide prompt treatment to patients. Presently some of the samples have to be sent to Delhi for testing.

The new Covid laboratory will be equipped with the most advanced machines, he said.

In neigbouring Mainpuri district, two deaths were reported on Thursday and 18 new cases. Mathura reported 48 new cases, while Firozabad 23, Etah 21 and Kasganj 21.
