Abhishek Seeks 15 Percent Copier Paper Market Share

Gandhinagar, March 25 (IANS) Abhishek Industries, the flagship company of the Trident group, is targeting a 15 percent share in the Rs.1,800-crore copier paper market, a company official said Thursday.

Abhishek is the world's largest producer of wheat straw based paper.

Rajinder Gupta, chief executive officer, said the company would increase its revenue by 116 percent over the next year by introducing eco-friendly branded copier paper products across middle and premium segments.

Abhishek has lined up resources to take the copier paper sales to

Rs.270 crore from the current Rs.125 crore by March 31, 2011.

According to Gupta, the organized branded copier paper market will expand in the coming years as the unorganized market is diminishing.

"The focus will now be on meeting the growing domestic demand for eco-friendly paper," he said.

The Ludhiana-based company procures 300 tonnes of wheat-straw every day to produce copier paper.

The company exports to over 65 countries, over 75 percent of it to the US and Europe.
