Mangalore, Mar 25: The long wait for the Volvo bus service by the Karnataka State Road Corporation (KSRTC) on the Manipal-Mangalore route will end on Saturday March 27.
As per the communication received from the office of Krishna Palemar, district in-charge minister, through the information department, he will inaugurate the bus from State Bank in the city while state home minister Dr V S Acharya will inaugurate the bus from Manipal simultaneously at 10.00 am on Saturday.
The Volvo buses have been ready at the KSRTC bus workshop at Kuntikana in the city for the last one month. Reportedly, the KSRTC officials were waiting for state transport minister R Ashok to celebrate the occasion in a grand manner.
Ashok had announced the proposal of introducing Volvo buses on the Manipal-Mangalore route, nearly a year and a half ago.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa had told reporters during his visit to the district recently that there is no need to wait for anybody to inaugurate it and the buses should begin running immediately when questioned.
