Udupi, Aug 28: Through a tweet dated August 28, MLA from here, K Raghupathi Bhat, said he had in the past, urged the chief minister to permit to perform unique social, cultural and religious rituals of Tulunadu like Daivaradhane, Nemotsava, Maril Puja and others.

Because of coronavirus infection, the entire nation was locked down and the people have not been able to keep up with their tradition of performing these festivities and rituals. Most of these performances are held on yearly basis and because they were banned, the people from here have not been able to hold them since early this year. This has hurt their religious sentiments and the economic condition of a number of people who eke out living by catering to various services on the occasion of these rituals has become very fragile, Bhat had explained to the chief minister.

Bhat had requested the chief minister to permit to hold these rituals with the condition that each of such performances should not have a crowd of over a hundred, and to grant financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to the specific classes of people who do religious service at these rituals.

Bhat said that the chief minister has upheld his request and instructed the chief secretary of Karnataka to permit the above. He has urged the chief secretary to accord sanction as permitted at the earliest.

Concentrate in building roads, bridges, drinking water supply, sea erosion and other socioeconomic works. Once Pandemic is over all our rituals will return to normalcy. No one is banning these rituals intentionally.
