Mangaluru: Heavy rains to pound coast for first three days of September

Mangaluru, Aug 31: The meteorological department expects heavy rain to pound coastal Karnataka for three days during the first three days of September. It has issued a yellow alert for these regions.

The rainfall will be heavy for three days all over the coastal belt including Mangaluru, Udupi, Kundapur and Honnavar. The department also expects strong winds to blow through the coast and hence asked the people to be careful.

Malnad areas will also be receiving heavy rainfall and the people there have to be cautious, the department said. Heavy rain is expected on September 1 and 2 and therefore people living near the rivers on both coast and malnad regions have been advised to be vigilant.

Heavy rain is also a possibility in districts like Shivamogga, Hassan, Chamarajanagar, Mysuru, Mandya, Ramanagara, and Chikkaballapur. Director of the department C S Patil said that the yellow alert has been issued in south interior Karnataka too between September 1 and 3.
