Udupi, Mar 27: Udupi Zilla Panchayat (ZP) released Udupi district Human Development Report 2008 at Madhava Krishna Hall, Hotel Kidiyoor here on Saturday March 27.

Home minister Dr V S Acharya after releasing the report said that the district shows tremendous development as far as education, health and cleanliness are concerned in comparison to the report brought out in 1999 after a study conducted on human development. The awareness created in the district through the report proves that the developing countries will soon take over the developed countries, he said.

Minister comparing the financial development achieved during the time of T A Pai and Srinivas Mallya, said that a lot of development is desired as far as power and agricultural sector in today’s times.

Deputy commissioner P Hemalatha delivered the introductory address. MLA Raghupati Bhat presided. Udupi ZP president Gladys Almeida, vice-president Santosh Kumar Shetty and MP D V Sadananda Gowda were present.
