Bengaluru, Sep 1: Bus passengers who were facing problems because of strict rules relating to bus travel have something to cheer about. From September 1, they need not stick to certain rules when taking a bus to reach their destination.

Henceforth, passengers can occupy all the seats in their buses. Passengers using KSRTC, NWRTC, NERTC etc can overlook social distancing norms. It may be recalled that on account of lockdown, bus operators including KSRTC have been facing huge losses as their services had been suspended and then truncated.

Even though buses have taken to roads after suspension for a long period, many rules and guidelines had restricted their movement. Till now, the gap of one seat had to be maintained between two passengers. Henceforth, passengers can get seated side by side and occupy all the seats in the bus.

While the social distancing norm has been relaxed, it is compulsory for the passengers and the staff to wear masks. At the same time, buses cannot have standing passengers. After a specific distance, buses have to be sanitised.
