Doha : Pallonji Wins First Division IBQ Cricket Tourney

Doha March 28 : In the Division-I of the 5th IBQ Masters Cricket Tournament 2010 held on March 26, PALLONJI easily achieved the target of 191 runs set by QALCO to lift the prestigious IBQ Masters Cricket Trophy.
In the Final Match played between PALLONJI and QALCO, winning the toss PALLONJI put in QALCO to bat first with failure of opening stand by QALCO lost the wickets QALCO were Struggling with 11 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the 2nd over.
On the other hand sensible batting by Arif Sultan, Fernandes and Muzammil saw QALCO reach respective total 189 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Muzammil was exceptional in scoring 54 runs off only 28 deliveries with 5 sixes and a four. Fernandes was equally good scoring 44 runs of 23 deliveries with 4 sixes and 2 boundaries while Arif Sultan put up 26 runs of 16 deliveries with 3 sixes. Edrich, Manoj, Jerry, Shailesh, Dinkar and Iftikar took a wicket each while there were 2 run outs.
In reply PALLONJI had a blistering start putting up 53 runs for the 1st wicket in 5 overs. Vikram was caught by Wicket Keeper Fernandes off Imran Khan for 10 runs while Dinakar was bowled by Zakaria for 3 runs. However PALLONJI batsman were totally in command and easily scored 190 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 17.1 overs. Melroy was not out on 23 runs with 2 sixes. Jerry was not out on 22 runs with 1 six and 2 boundaries. Shailesh not out on 22 runs with 3 sixes and a boundary while Akil scored 23 runs with 2 sixes and a boundary. Imran Khan, Zakaria, Hameed and Arif took a wicket each while there was 1 run out.

In a well attended Prize Distribution ceremony, Chandramohan Pillai, Head of Admin & Facilities of IBQ was the Chief Guest, the Guests of Honor of IBQ were Bacchu Nazareth, Manager Electronic Banking and Cedric Fonseca, Correspondent Banking Specialist.. The Tournament witnessed by Yousef Al Hammadi, Maintenance Manager and Sports Committee Chairman of QAPCO as well as Abdulla Al Ansari of QAPCO and Chidananda Naik of Pallonji Qatar

All the spectators were treated to complimentary refreshments and a Free Lucky Draw. QAPCO also distributed free compliments.
