Seoul, Sep 4 (IANS): South Korea reported 198 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, raising the total number of infections to 20,842.
The daily caseload stayed below 200 for two days, but it has continued to grow in triple digits since August 14 due to cluster infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province, reports Xinhua news agency.
Of the new cases, 68 were Seoul residents, 55 from Gyeonggi province and nine imported.
Two more deaths were confirmed, increasing the death toll to 331.
The total fatality rate stood at 1.59 per cent.
Since January 3, the country has tested more than 2.01 million people.
