Probe on after Chinese Army abducts five persons in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar, Sep 5: Following the reports of five people who went missing after they had gone hunting in a forest in Upper Subansiri district on the Sino-India border, the Arunachal Pradesh police has launched a probe. A senior official said that they were allegedly kidnapped by the Chinese military.

According to the family, the incident was said to have occurred on Friday, September 4. Two of them managed to escape and informed the police.

Superintendent of police, Taru Gussar said, "I have sent the officer-in-charge of the Nacho police station to the area to verify the facts and directed him to report immediately. However, the report will be available only by Sunday morning," he said.

All the kidnapped belong to the Tagin community and are identified as Toch Singkam, Prasat Ringling, Dongtu Ebiya, Tanu Baker and Ngaru Diri.

The family members said that the relatives had left for Nacho on Saturday morning to discuss the matter with the Indian Army. Nacho is about 120 km from where they reside in the district headquarters in Daporijo.

The family has requested the authorities to take the necessary steps to bring their family members back. The Army could not be reached for making any statements regarding the incident.

Ninong Ering, MLA Pasighat West has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give a befitting reply to the China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) for the incident.

In a similar incident in March, a 21-year-old man was abducted at gunpoint from the Asapila sector near McMahon line. After 19 days of captivity Togley Singkam, the abducted youth was released.
