Udupi: Telugu producer charged with tonsuring Dalit boy caught at railway station

Udupi, Sep 6: Telugu film producer Nutan Naidu, who is facing charges of assaulting a Dalit boy in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, has been arrested from Udupi railway station here.

As per reports, the Dalit youth named Parri Srikanth was harassed by his wife Madhuri for allegedly stealing a pen.

The boy was tonsured as punishment on August 28, a video of which went viral on social media. Sources said that Naidu had made video calls to his wife the same day and had hurled casteist slurs at Srikanth.

An FIR was filed and seven persons including the producer's wife were arrested on August 29.

It is alleged that Naidu, a former participant of the reality show 'Bigg Boss', had even tried to impersonate a retired IAS officer in order to put pressure on medical officers to issue a certificate of illness to his wife and five others, so as to secure their release. Nutan himself had gone absconding.

Naidu had impersonated IAS officers not only to secure medical certificates in this case, but also to cheat other people, sources said. He had changed his details on True Caller app to falsely reflect his number as that of chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh chief minister's office. His impersonation came to light after calls to medical officers in the assault case raised suspicions.

Based on credible information received from Vishakpatnam police on Saturday September 5, he was arrested from Udupi railway station. Police sources said that Naidu was trying to flee to Mumbai from Mangaluru by train. He attempted to escape even after the police caught him, and threw away a mobile phone while doing so, police sources said. The police have recovered four mobile phones from him.

Naidu has been produced in the court and has been handed over to Vishakpatnam police for further investigation.

If we really want o bring equality and uniformity in India, surnames should be discarded. Upper castes talk about Hindutva and we are all hindus etc., but then are able to segregate the people based on their surname whenever it suits them. Why Shetty, Bhatta, Poojari, Sherigara, Kamath, Rai, Jain, Hegde etc., This is basically to identify and mark a caste within a caste.

This is what we call varna system and we internally use a different term.
Shamefully when we face the same situation in foreign countries we call racism

Even educated people are involved here and they don't see how it affects the so called lower caste person. First of all I don't understand why do we need these caste system in the first place.
Politicians/political system misuses this during election to garner votes.
And we don't yet feel the pain of these affected people and we call ourselves the advanced nation and fifth largest economy. what a shame!!!
That's one of the reason these days when you say your first name they ask you your full name....because from sur name they will know which caste/gotra/system one belongs.
I normally don't give my sir name and I ask them shy do you need my surname???

lets open our eyes and if we have an iota of shame and unless we treat all equally like us, no amount of temple going and homas are going to cleanse the hearts/mids/bodies of these evil minded people!!!

I, a mortal, can go to God, pray to God any time. God has not put any curtain. between him and me. I and all of us go to the same 6 feet or fire when we die ? Then, why my friends, you have pride that you are superior and other one is inferior ? Why cannot you see your fellow citizen with fraternity, equality and respect ?
