Mangalore, Apr 1: The University College Alumni Association will celebrate Alumni Day on Saturday April 3, with musical and cultural programmes, informed D K Chowta, president of the association on Monday March 29.
Speaking at a press conference in University College in the city here, he said that the celebrations will held under the presidentship of Dr M Veerappa Moily, union minister for law and justice. Vvice chancellor of Mangalore University Dr T C Shivashankara Moorthy will be the chief guest for the programme. Entrepreneur Dr Dayananda Pai and former vice chancellor of Mangalore University Prof K M Kaveriappa will be felicitated, he said.
International fame Clarinet player Narasimhalu Vadavatti will perform musical concert and Richard Louis along with his team will present a programme called Nage habba, as part of entertainment programme, he added.
The college has most privileged history in the field of education and the alumni association has been actively participating in developmental works after a gap of few years. Therefore the association has planned to connect more and more alumni of the college, he added.
The alumni association formed under the leadership of the then Vice-chancellor of Mangalore University Prof K M Kaveriappa, where the alumni of the college, M Veerappa Moily, union minister for law and justice was selected the honorary president and Dr Dayananda Pai, proprietor of Century Builders as vice-president among others, he informed adding that another committee was formed at the same time to lead the developmental works, which is chaired by Dr Dayananda Pai.
The association has planned to donate a building to the college and a portion of work has been completed, he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Laxminarayana Bhat, principal of the college informed that college will celebrate 106th annual day along with talent's day and Sports day from March 30 to April 1.
Joint Secretaries Nitte Shashidhar Shetty, Namita D Rao, members Dharmanna Nayak, Sudhakar Rao Pejavar and Dr Sathyanarayana Mallipatna were also present.
