Mangaluru: Teachers’Day celebrated by YCS, ICYM of Neermarga Parish

Mangaluru, Sep 8: YCS and ICYM of Neermarga Parish ceremoniously observed Teachers’ day with great gusto, animation and gaiety on September 6.

Fr Anil D'Mello parish priest, Fr Arun Lobo director of SKCC, Ravi Saldanha vice-president, Parish Pastoral Council, Prakash Pereira secretary Parish Pastoral Council were the dignitaries who graced the occasion.

Bubbling enthusiastic youth performed an invigorating cultural show to manifest their love, regard, acknowledgement and recognition of the seamless labour of the teachers in leading the students to the threshold of their minds and in aiding them to strive for goals. The cultural show incorporated mesmerizing western dance by Lenita and Sudeep and a moral skit by the YCS portraying the theme ‘Teacher You are a Gift’ received thunderous applause. A song thanking the teachers was melodiously sung by ICYM. The programme was interspersed with spot games which thrilled both youth and teachers alike and prizes were distributed to the winners soon after the games ended.

Sr Gretta Braggs was honoured and felicitated with a shawl by Fr Anil D'Mello, sandalwood garland by Fr Arun Lobo and a basket of fruits by Ravi Saldanha and Prakash Pereira for her long years of devoted services in the field of education and to the Church. Gretta Vas shared her professional knowledge and expertise in the field. In his thought-provoking oration Fr Arun Lobo gave a clarion call to the mentors to reflect qualities of Jesus in their teaching ministry and wished that the example of Jesus spur them on to positive action.

Fr Anil D'Mello in his presidential address reiterated that the past mentees pay their respects to their mentors for their invaluable guidance and for their altruistic devotion through citing of concrete examples. He further prized the successful coordination of YCS and ICYM under the dynamic leadership of Pawan, president of ICYM and Lester president of YCS. Fr Anil D'Mello, a role model to the flock entrusted to his care was felicitated by the youth and they thanked the priest for his friendly, kind, supportive and loving nature. Every teacher was then presented with a gift by Fr Anil D'Mello. All teachers enjoyed and appreciated the program.

The programme was efficiently compered by Prerana and Melvita. Pawan welcomed the gathering and Oscheal issued message of thanks.
