New Delhi, Apr 1 (IANS): Indo-Japanese automobile giant Maruti Suzuki has become the first company in India to sell over a million passenger cars during a fiscal year, with as many as 1,018,365 vehicles rolling out of its showrooms during 2009-10.
The company sold 870,790 vehicles in the domestic market and exported 147,575 vehicles out of India, both of which were the highest-ever, Maruti Suzuki said in a regulatory fling with the stock markets Thursday.
The company's total sales were up an impressive 29 percent, despite the difficult year that 2009-10 was. The total sales during 2008-10 were 792,167 vehicles, the statement added.
The shares of the company, however, were down 0.45 percent at Rs.1,409.80.
