Bhadravathi DySP Henry Denis Mendonsa Receives CM’s Gold Medal

Bangalore, Apr 3: Bhadravathi Deputy Superintendent of Police Henry Denis Mendonsa is among the 92 police officers who were awarded the Chief Minister’s Gold Medal for his meritorious performance during the year 2009-10 at a function in Bangalore on Good Friday.
54-year-old Mendonsa, who was born and educated in Chikmagalur, had been promoted as Deputy Superintendent of Police three years back and had been posted to Udupi to serve in the newly constituted Costal Security Police Force.
He had been transferred to Bhadravathi sub-division and working there with Shimoga as the base since 2008.
The Chief Minister’s Gold Medal was presented to DySP Mendonsa and 91 other officers, including police constable V Venu for his work in arresting the alleged perpetrators of 2008 serial bomb blasts in Bangalore and police constables Sunil Kumar involved in the investigation of Rashid Malbari’s murder and Jnanashekar, who assisted in the arrest of the alleged serial killer Mohan Kumar, both of whom hail from coastal Dakshina Kannada district.
The Chief Minister’s Medals were presented by Karnataka Chief Secretary S V Ranganath in the absence of both the Chief Minister B S Yeddyurpapa and Home Minister Dr V S Acharya.
Mendonsa joined the police force in 1979 as Sub-Inspector and has served at Bajpe, Moodabidri, Shirva, Udupi Rural, Hebri and Karkala – all in coastal Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. He was subsequently promoted as Circle Inspector and had served at Karkala and Puttur.
He had also served as Circle Inspector in Mangalore for the District Crime Investigation Bureau and also in the Bangalore Intelligence for one year before his transfer to Manipal.
It may be recalled that he had been awarded the first place for range-wise investigation just a month ago for his performance during last year.
DySP Mendonsa is married to Margaret and the couple have a son Desmond, who has just completed his Pre-University Course.
