Mangalore, Apr 3: The Easter Celebration here at Infant Jesus Shrine, Mangalore commenced at 7. 30 pm with the blessing of the new fire by Fr. Nelson Pinto. The Easter Calendar was lit and carried by Deacon Prakash to the Altar calling on people to walk in the light of Risen Christ. Fr. Joe Tauro sang the Exultes - the Easter Hymn.
Five readings from the Sacred Scripture gave a glimpse of the salvation story of Israel and mankind in general. As the Gloria resounded in the air the image of Risen Jesus got unveiled and Fr. George Santhumayor incensed the image. Fr. Stephen Pereira preaching on the occasion called the faithful to believe in the resurrection of Jesus which is essential to one's salvation. “The joy and experience of Risen Jesus can not be kept without sharing it with others. Be the witnesses of risen Jesus”, he said.
Later water was blessed and baptismal vows were renewed. Faithful who had gathered in great number wished each other after the mass and with the peace of Jesus Risen returned home.
