Mangaluru, Sep 14: The Yenepoya School & PU College organized an online event for teachers on account of Teacher's Day called 'YENergy 2020' which started from September 2 and ended on September 5 in a grand finale.
The concept of the event was for teachers to interact and bring in a sense of normalcy in the absence of the regular Teacher's Day bash at The Yenepoya School & PUC which happens every year.
The competitions were open to all the teachers worldwide without restrictions on location which welcomed participants from not only within the country but also abroad.
The competitions included singing called ‘Sing is King’, cooking competition called ‘Lockdown Recipe’, online class- vase (interesting and funny classroom anecdotes), entertainment – the talent hunt and dance competition called ‘Happy Feet’.
One of the judges, Ryan Lobo who is a Spanish teacher said, “Hats-off and a big shout to The Yenepoya team for organizing this event in such a seamless and flawless manner. Every single event went like clockwork and the talent that was on display was simply amazing.”
The participants belonged to various schools and colleges around India and abroad. One of the participants, Haleema from GEMS, Dubai said, “It was a wonderful event organized by The Yenepoya School and PUC. It brought back memories of the celebrations we have in school. For once it felt like we were out of the pandemic and back in school.”
The prize winners were declared at the grand finale on September 5 during the online Teacher's Day Celebrations that started at 3.30 pm, where the top 5 participants’ performances were displayed and the top three were awarded cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 5000 and Rs 3000 sponsored by the Yenepoya University, Mangaluru.
The prize winners include Sukanya Guha who bagged the first place, Sapna M Crasta in second and Suresh Rao Attur at third place in the singing competition, 'Sing is King'. This competition was judged by Ganaraja Bhat, Rekha Sandeep, Rony Crasta and Ryan Lobo.
Kiran Shetty bagged the first place in the online class- vase competition, Latha Wilson bagged second and Jean Braggs bagged the third place. This competition was judged by Roshan Dcunha and Ryan Fernandes.
In the 'Lockdown Recipe' competition, Sanchia Rebello bagged the first place, Mohan Raj bagged the second and Jennifer bagged the third. This competition was judged by Premjith Thankappan, Renee Lobo Satish.
Nandana Varma bagged the first place in entertainment, followed by Sapna M Crasta and Panchami bagged the third place. This competition was judged by Anil Raj Rodrigues and Ashokan.
Coming to the dance competition, Mohan Raj bagged the first place, Deevith Shridhar bagged the second and Devishree won the third. This competition was judged by Nicky Pinto and Shruthi Bhat Pai.
The Yenepoya team is indebted to all the participants for braving the present situation and putting up a great show during these unprecedented times, which made everyone feel they were back to normalcy. The Yenepoya University is appreciated for its generous sponsorship toward YENergy 2020.
