The 13th edition of Indian Premier League is all set to kick off on September 19, 2020 with 8 teams participating in the competition. Each season we see a lot of changes teams make before the start of season and auction for this year took place in December 2019. Unfortunately IPL 2020 didn’t start in April due to COVID-19 but now it will happen in UAE.
All 8 participating teams fans, cricket experts discuss which team could win this year’s IPL edition. Lot of people say, team with most destructive batting lineup will win meanwhile many say top class bowling will win. Some has opinion that the team that has spent more money during auction, will win as they got some top class cricketers with the money.
But is it really true that having most expensive squad will give victory?
Well that’s not the true at all. In fact, there is never a team having most expensive roster in the season won the IPL season since tournament’s inception in 2008. As per latest research done for all 12 previous editions, it is found that most expensive squad doesn’t guarantee to win IPL.
Mumbai Indians is the having the highest paid squad this summer and it doesn’t mean they can’t win IPL 2020. They can but not with this parameter. The first edition of IPL was played in 2008 and won by Rajasthan Royals. The interesting thing about that Rajasthan Royals 2008 squad was it was the least valued roster among all the teams.

Still Rajasthan succeed to win the Indian Premier League tournament. So buying an expensive squad doesn’t guarantee to win the cash rich twenty20 league. The recent analysis from betway states 'the team with the most expensive squad has never won the tournament.' So Chennai Super Kings don't seem to win this year
This season of Dream11 Indian Premier League will see title defending champions Mumbai Indians playing Chennai Super Kings in the opening game at Abu Dhabi. All night matches will start at 7:30 PM as per Indian Standard Timings.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders look to be favorite to win this year’s IPL and it would first occasion when most expensive team win the IPL cup if Mumbai Indians managed to win and defend their title.
