Mangalore: `Oriyardori Asal' to Hit silver screen Soon

Mangalore, Apr 8: The history created in the world of Tulu theatre through a drama titled, `Oriyardori Asal’ is sought to be replicated on the silver screen, as the movie adaptation of the play is set to hit the silver screen soon. The news about this film has given rise to lot of enthusiasm in the coastal districts, as the expectation of people to feast on good humour and entertainment this movie is set to provide, have been aroused.
Writer and director of the play of the same name, Vijaya Kumar Kodialbail, is now associated with the film version of `Oriyardori Asal,’ as its script writer, lyricist and dialogue writer. His ambition is to attract people towards the movie theatres, on the same lines the play had succeeded in doing. Under his leadership, shooting began seven days back.
For the shooting of the film, Vijaykumar has chosen a compound in Kodialbail area, which suits the sequences narrated in the script of the film. As such, shooting for the film started without the need to put up any artificial sets, which gives it a touch of originality. Vijay Kumar adds that this was the same area that had inspired him to author the play 23 years ago, and after a detailed search for such a location in various places, the team finalized the Tyampanna compound for the shooting.
Popular actors of Tulu theatre, `Kusaldarase’ Naveen D Padil, Aravind Bolar, Rajesh Bantwal and others have been cast in a major roles in this film. Actors from Kannada film industry, Rekha Das, M N Laxmidevi, Sathyajith, Mr World-fame Raymond D’Souza, are also in the cast of the film.
Music director, Guru Kiran, will be seen in a guest appearance in the film. TV talk show host, Likhith Shetty, and Rekha Barne, have been cast in the lead roles.
Roopa Vijayakumar will produce the film for the banner `Roopalaxmi’ and H S Rajashekar is the director for the film.
The film will continue to be shot at several places in the city including Someshwara beach.
The efforts made by several directors and producers to make a super hit movie in Tulu, have not succeeded since the last several years. But Vijayakumar Kodialbail has got a golden opportunity to turn the tide and make a successful film in the form of ‘Oriyardori Asal’.
The play, `Oriyardori Asal’ was the first of its kind to have given a new dimension to the Tulu theatre, with non-stop comedy. The incidents in the play, which was based on the day to day lives of the people, occur in a compound where three to four houses are located. The popularity of the characters in the play, and the way in which the play was presented, succeeded in enabling the play break all records in the history of the Tulu theatre.
`Vijaya Kumar Kodialbail will prove himself again’ has been a commonly heard comment these days, among the Tulu circles and also among the actors of the movie, when a question is posed to them about their opinion about the movie.
