Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Apr 8: The policemen of Pandeshwar station in the city have arrested three persons in connection with an attempt to procure driving licence by producing fake SSLC certificate.

The arrested men have been identified as Govardhan (26) from Ramakunja, Ismail (43) from Talapady and Arif (28) from Balmatta in the city. The policemen made these arrests, acting on a complaint filed by the transport department officials.

It is said that Govardhan from Ramakunja, who lives in Pajimogeru in the city, wanted to get heavy vehicles driving licence for four wheelers. After he approached a person named Arif in a driving school in the city for assistance, Govardhan was told that as per the recent modifications to the Motor Vehicles Act, SSLC certificate is a must for those applying for heavy vehicles driving licence. At the request of Govardhan, Arif requested Ismail from Talapady to provide him a SSLC certificate. Ismail reportedly got the same done through a person named Samad, working for a travel agency near the State Bank here.

When the SSLC certificate so manufactured was presented to the transport department officials, they grew suspicious, as the certificate bore the signature and seal of ‘Subbannaiah Highschool’ in Kotekar, Mangalore Taluk, which does not exist. On a complaint filed by them, the Pandeshwar policemen cracked the case. On producing the arrested accused in the court, they were remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

The policemen said that Samad and a few others, who were involved with the task of creating fake rubber stamp of the school, signing of the certificate etc., are absconding.

Put them behind bar. want the easy way out. Good to hear that a minimum qualification of SSLC is required for a heavy License. This might bring in some driver's who can understand the laws.
