All Parties should Fight Maoists Unitedly, says Yechury

Kolkata, April 11 (IANS) Political leaders cutting across party lines should unite in the fight against the Maoist guerillas, Communist Party Of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo member Sitaram Yechury said here Sunday.

"Political parties should keep aside their vested political interests and must unite in the fight against the Maoist menace. It is not about a person or a leader to resign from a post. We want a united fight against the Maoists," said Yechury while addressing mediapersons in Kolkata.

Yechury questioned the legitimacy of the political alliance between the Trinamool Congress and the Congress party in the upcoming elections to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and 82 other civic bodies across the state when the two parties differed on important issues like the women's reservation bill and the anti-Maoist operations.

"Trinamool Congress and Congress should come clear on their differences on the Women's Bill and anti-Maoist operations. Else, wise people will think it's only an electoral alliance against the ruling Left Front in West Bengal," said Yechury.
