Mangaluru: Carmel School celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

Mangaluru, Oct 2: The 151st birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation was observed with patriotic zeal and zest by the faculty of Carmel School on October 2.

The day commenced with an hour of shramadhan to uphold the dignity of labour, an eternal legacy left behind by the Mahatma. The entire faculty unitedly participated in this venture.

A short programme followed the shramadhan.



The programme initiated with a prayer service invoking God’s blessings on the nation and its leaders followed by melodious singing of patriotic songs. Savithri exemplified the significance of the day. Sr Sarika, the principal in her message gave a clarion call to the faculty to imbibe the values of truth and non-violence through their exemplary lives and in turn be a role model to the ones entrusted to their care.

The staff of the primary section shouldered the responsibility under the direction of Sr Lavina Shanthi, the vice-principal. Mabel D’Souza compered the programme, Anusha welcomed the gathering and Hazel Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks.
