Udupi: Gandhi Jayanthi celbration at St Mary’s college shirva

Udupi, Oct 2: Gandhi Jayanthi and NSS day were celebrated at St Mary’s College Shirva, Oct 02, 2020. Prof. Prakash Kramadhary was the chief guest. In his speech, he called NSS volunteers to update themselves, as the need of the society is changing every year. He added that in society everyone is having a particular role to play in this context, the NSS volunteers must understand their role in the college, home and society. He proposed to utilize the opportunities rendered by the NSS so that they can reach a new height.

The program was presided over by Dr Hearld Ivan Monis, Principal of the College, in his presidential remarks, he appreciated the efforts of NSS program officers and said that in NSS there is no discrimination on the basis of caste and creed, all are treated equally this is the core value of humanity, in actual practice if there caste exists then it is only in the form of male and female and this is the creation of God he added.

In the program prizes were distributed to the NSS volunteers who won the prizes in the competitions conducted during the lockdown.

Program officer Premnath welcomed the gathering, program officer Raksha proposed the vote of thanks. Assistant program officer Samjoel Dias and Deepa Shetty were present on the occasion along with other members of the staff of the college. The program was compeered by Akshatha.
