Kadaba, Oct 3: The locals caught hold of six persons and handed them over to the police at Karmayi in Nekkilady village within the limits of Kadaba police station on Friday October 2.
The police said that they have taken into custody Gangadhar Gowda and Purushotham Gowda from Panjody, Hemanth Kumar O P from near Hettur Valalahalli in Sakleshplur taluk, Yadhukumar CACS, Anand, and the driver of a pick-up vehicle, Keerti. Two bulls and the pick-up truck have been taken into custody by the police.
It is said that two bulls that were left to graze inside the forest were stolen by the said gang which then was transporting them in the vehicle. Noticing this, the locals stopped the vehicle. They found that the animals were stuffed inside the vehicle in a violent way. Kadaba police who came there after coming to know of the development took the six accused into custody and also the vehicle.
Some locals have expressed suspicion that a former leader of Hindu Jagran /vedike, who is an advocate, might be hand in glove with the theft. Their argument gains credence by the fact that his father is one of the arrested accused.
Kadaba Prakhand president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Radhakrishna Kolpe, has urged the police to take legal action against anyone in spite of the powerful position he occupies or how much influence he wields. He said that such incidents shave become common in Karmayi. He said that there is suspicion of the involvement of a person in a position of responsibility, and urged the police to undertake investigation properly.
