Mangaluru, Oct 3: Former union minister, B Janardhana Poojary, has termed police assault on Rahul Gandhi by Uttar Pradesh police as inhuman.
He condemned the police action in cremating the body of an innocent girl without informing her family members after her rape. "Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi went to Hathras to voice their protest against such atrocities. But the police showed their inhuman side by assaulting them," he said. He strongly condemned the act.
Poojary agreed that this was not the first time that rape has happened. At the same time, he stated that when rape had taken place during the Congress tenure, the BJP had held protests and processions and organised bandhs. "It would be undemocratic if you say that no protest should be held. In the Nirbhaya case, the BJP had undertaken a nation-wide movement against the Congress. Congress did not create bottlenecks for the protests then. Now the concerned is wrong to say that national-level opposition leaders should not visit the families of the victim," he commented.
