Bantwal, Oct 3: The contract workers and outsourced workers of the health department who were protesting for their various demands from their residences since the last ten days on Saturday protested in front of Mini Vidhan Saudha as there was no response from the government for their demands.
The workers from the departments of state health and family welfare and medical education resorted to indefinite protests since September 24 in association with Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangha as the government had not implemented the suggestions by the committee appointed by the government. 120 protesters including taluk medical officers took part in the protests. They said that protests will be held in front of Mini Vidhan Saudha till October 6.
Former Buda president Sadashiva Bangera supporting the protests said that it is not right to play with the lives of the health staff. Elected representatives increase their salaries instantly. They get paid several thousand even after retirement. But the negative attitude towards workers who are asking for their livelihood is condemnable.
The protesting workers expressed the problems faced by them due to the government's policy. Contract worker’s association president Dr Prakash Kumar and secretary Vishwanath P, led the protests. An appeal was submitted to the government later through tahsildar Rashmi S R.
