Hyderabad, Oct 3 (IANS): The newly-constructed building of the Hyderabad Regional Centre of the Central Hindi Institute, Agra, will be inaugurated on Monday.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, who is also Chairman of the Central Hindi Teaching Board, Agra, will inaugurate the building at a programme to be held online.
The Central Hindi Institute, Agra, is an all-India level autonomous institution established in 1960 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to promote and propagate Hindi at an all-India level and abroad. With its headquarters in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, it has eight regional centres -- Delhi, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Shillong, Mysuru, Dimapur, Bhubaneswar and Ahmedabad.
The regional centre Hyderabad was established in 1976. It organises short-term orientation and refresher courses, seminars and workshops for in-service Hindi teachers serving in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Maharashtra and Union Territories Pondicherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Centre has been carrying out its activities from a rented building since 1976. The four-storey building has been constructed by the Central Public Works Department, Hyderabad at a cost of nearly Rs 5.67 crore on a 1,000-square yard plot obtained from the Telangana government.
The inaugural programme will be attended by Telangana's Minister for Labour, Employment, Women and Child Development Malla Reddy, Union Minister of State for Education Sanjay Dhotre, Education Secretary, Government of India, Amit Khare and Vice-Chairman, Central Hindi Teaching Board, Anil Sharma Joshi.
The Hyderabad centre organises a variety of programmes for the promotion of Hindi in the states of South India. For this purpose, 'SamanvayDakshin' magazine is published to give exposure to the talent of South India, spread the region's art and culture and connect with the people there.
The Central Institute of Hindi invites students from all non-Hindi regions, including South India, on scholarship to the headquarters in Agra to study various teacher training courses offered by the institute. The selected students stay at the Central Hindi Institute, Agra for two years to familiarise themselves with Indian culture as well as Hindi.
