Mangaluru: Police commissioner denies being under pressure in drugs case

Mangaluru, Oct 5: City police commissioner Vikash Kumar said that the investigation into drugs racket has been progressing in the right direction. He denied having been under any kind of pressure relating to this probe.

Speaking in the city on Sunday October 4, the police commissioner said that the department is not under any kind of pressure either political or administrative. "We are being provided with all kinds of support for in-depth investigation. Various statements are surfacing relating to the investigation. The investigation can be undertaken in a proper manner if documentary support for these statements are furnished," he stated.

On the allegation that after TV actress and anchor Aushree was slapped with the notice by the city crime branch, a former chief minister, the son of a former chief minister and influential MP from the coast had been approached by her seeking protection in the case. However, the police sources said that these claims have not been substantiated.
