Dharwad, Oct 9: BJP state president, Nalin Kumar Kateel, exuded confidence that all the candidates being fielded by the BJP for the two assembly seat bypolls and four legislative council polls being held in the state will come out victorious.
Speaking after accompanying Prof S V Sankanur, who filed nomination as the BJP candidate from the legislative council's west graduates constituency on Thursday, he agreed that the BJP's influence in Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Sira constituencies is comparatively les. Therefore, he said he and the chief minister have jointly been conducting tours of these constituencies in an attempt to attract the votes of the electorate. He recalled that the party had got 14,000 votes last time.
Nalin said that many JD(S) and Congress leaders from these two constituencies, who have got disillusioned with their parties, are jointing the BJP and therefore, a pro-BJP have has been created there.
On the rumour making the rounds since some days about Congress leader from here, Vinay Kulkarni, joining the BJP, he termed it merely as a rumour. "No one has contacted me about Vinay Kulkarni's desire to join the BJP. If such a proposal comes, we will see what can be done then," he clarified.
